From PET to Pi…

This year we are proudly celebrating our 40th anniversary. We would like to sincerely thank all our customers, staff, suppliers, and everyone else who has been part of our story up until now. Without you there wouldn’t be a Jaycar.

This year’s catalogue is both a tribute to our founder, Gary Johnston, who sadly we lost earlier this year, and to what has been at the core of our business since the start, our absolute passion for products. For many of you (and us) it’s gratifying to see so many products that were in our early 80’s catalogues still have a listing today. It underlines Jaycar’s commitment to stocking the components and products you need for all your electronics projects.

Being the 40th edition, we couldn’t just do a “normal catalogue” so we decided to flip it. The front of the catalogue is largely a throwback to our earlier catalogues, here you’ll find all the Components, Test & Tools, Electromech and Connectors. You’ll also find some new stuff as well like 3D printers, Arduino and Raspberry Pi.

The back half of the catalogue features the sections that have grown a lot over the second half of our forty years, particularly as new technology has changed the way we use electronics. Think Switchmode Power Supplies, Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth. Here you will find Power, Sight & Sound, IT, Communications and Security.

Which leads to our cover(s)…

The front cover features a handful of products you would have found on your workbench back in 1981 and a cool replica Commodore PET Minicomputer; it’s not just a model though, you can actually build it using a Raspberry Pi and a 3D printer!

The back cover showcases the 3D printer and some of the other popular items from the current Jaycar range. If you’re keen to build the cover or read more on the PET mini please click here. So grab a cuppa and start browsing – we’re sure you will find many things that will excite and make you think. possible.
